During the alumni workshop this summer there was some discussion about the best way to attract students to our courses. One excellent suggestion was to "recruit" from a logical feeder course. A colleague teaches a course entitled Genomics during our winter quarter, I intend to ask if I can visit his class and give a pitch for my course.
The course I teach not only requires a lot of time from me and my students but the potential for them learning unique skills that are not experienced in other courses is great. Consequently higher enrollments will likely increase the impact of the course.
Has anyone else tried a different approach to identify and attract appropriate students for their course?
